How to Embed Your Release on Music Submission Platforms
Ready to share your new music with the world? This guide will help you easily embed your release on music submission platforms like Musosoup. Watch our handy demo to learn how to embed your music, or read the instructions below.
Getting Started
First things first: if you’re looking for a unique Pay-As-You-Go PR platform that brings curators to you, click the 'Submit Your Music' button on musosoup.com. To get started you’ll need to enter your artist details, followed by your release details, like track name, etc.
Once you’ve filled in the basic details, you’ll reach the Release Media embed option – which is easy when you know how! Read on…
Embedding YouTube Tracks
For Unreleased Music: If your track isn’t out yet, upload it to YouTube as ‘Unlisted’. This means it can be embedded on sites like ours but won’t show up in YouTube searches.
For Released Music: If your track is already out, make sure it’s set to ‘Public’ on YouTube.
How to Embed
1. Go to your video on YouTube and click ‘Share’
2. Click ‘Embed’
3. Copy the embed code
4. Paste this code into the Media Player Embed Code box on Musosoup, and your video will then appear.
Embedding Soundcloud Tracks
For Unreleased Music: If your track isn’t out yet, set it to ‘Private’ on Soundcloud. This means it can be embedded on sites like ours but won’t show up on Soundcloud searches.
For Released Music: If your track is already out, make sure it’s set to ‘Public’ on Soundcloud.
Embedding a Single
1. In Soundcloud, find your track and click ‘Share’
2. Click ‘Embed’
3. Copy the code
8. Paste this code into the Media Player Embed Code box on Musosoup, and your media player will then appear.
Embedding an Album or EP
The process is the same for albums or EPs. Just make sure to select the entire album or EP when copying the embed code.
Embedding with Spotify
The embed code might be tricky to get at on a phone, so using a computer is advisable:
1. On Spotify, select your track, then click the three dots icon
2. Click ‘Share’ then ‘Embed track’
3. Click ‘Copy’
4. Paste the code into the Media Player Embed Code box on Musosoup, and your media player will then appear.
Embedding with Bandcamp
Single Track
1. Go to your track on Bandcamp, click ‘Share / Embed’
2. Click ‘Embed this track’
3. Choose a media player (we recommend the second player because it has a useful scrub bar and offers more control to the listener).
4. Copy the embed code
5. Paste the code into the Media Player Embed Code box on Musosoup, and your media player will then appear.
EP or Album
The process is similar for EPs and albums, just with a couple of tweaks:
Click ‘Show tracklist’ to allow the listener to pick a specific track to listen to
After pasting the code into Musosoup, edit the ‘width’ parameter in the code to 100% if you want the player to fill the available width on the platform.
Planning Ahead
If you’re planning on using Musosoup as part of your release promotion strategy, we recommend you launch your Musosoup campaign as early as possible! Campaigns last for 21 days, but the countdown doesn’t start until release day, so make the most of the ‘free’ attention beforehand. Submitting 1 month before your release date gives you an extra free 30 days on your campaign – at no additional cost!
If you’re releasing an EP or album in, for example, three months, consider launching multiple campaigns one after another, with each campaign promoting a different key track from it. This strategy should draw the attention of even more curators and generate wider coverage for your release.
Conclusion
So that’s it! Embedding your music might seem tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a piece of cake. Remember, these embeds are essential for showcasing your music effectively on Musosoup – and on other music submission platforms, blogs and websites. Good luck – and get in touch if you need any help!
