The closing stages of the summer brought some excellent releases our way! Here’s a selection of great submissions I came across on Musosoup during the month of August.

SANSOM is an artist from Portslade on the outskirts of Brighton, who’s been on a great run of form throughout 2025 so far. His latest single ‘Golden’ is an anthem of self-reflection, blending catchy hooks with punk energy.

The end of the month also saw a hugely impressive release by Manchester-based songwriter, Olivia Booth. ‘MIND’ is a wonderfully intense, heartfelt track, which straddles the realms of indie rock and alternative pop superbly well.

Having unleashed a well-received album last year called ‘Beneath The Big Top’, London-based artistPrince of Sweden is lining up another LP for release later this year. His new single ‘James I Can’t Stay’ is a melodic, slow-burning highlight from the record.

Joe Kutryk was another artist who sprung to the top of the pile in recent weeks, thanks to a stunning slice of lovelorn alternative folk called ‘do you ever? (think of me)’. It has a wonderfully autumnal, windswept vibe, which will serve your playlists well as the nights begin to draw in.

Over in the States, Carrie Ryan put out not one, but two great singles in August, showcasing her songwriting versatility in beautiful fashion. ‘Learn To Let Go’ is my personal favourite from the pair of them, with its soulful take on night-time-ready pop noir.

Hertfordshire trio Old Man Jr. headlined the Islington Academy towards the end of May and have now continued their momentum with a QOTSA-esque banger in the shape of ‘I SEE’. Another brilliant August release which hasn’t left my brain since I first heard it…

The riffs continue! This time with Blackberry Crush, and their anthemic take on grunge-soaked art rock in the form of ‘With/Without’. This is definitely a band to keep an eye on for the remainder of 2025, if songs like this are anything to go by.

If pop-punk’s your thing, then look no further thanEverWill, which is the high-octane rock brainchild of Nebraska-born artist Will Griffey. ‘Concrete Wave’ is a glorious slab of catchy harmonies and chunky riffs to be the backdrop of any late-summer road trip you’re planning.

Over in France, we find Connie Moreau on scintillating form, thanks to a beautiful new song called ‘So Shy’. It’s a timeless example of folk-tinged chamber pop, led by Connie’s superb vocals.

Finally, we have the new Dweller on the Threshold project, brought to us by composer and songwriter Ben Miller. ‘Durer’s Dream’ is the first single from his new body of work, mixing acoustic-leaning cinematics with Middle Eastern influences.
