Artist Spotlight - Stone Deaf

Location: Swansea, Wales | Genres: Indie Rock, Alt Rock

Formed in late 2023, Stone Deaf is an indie alt-rock trio bringing unfiltered attitude to the UK underground. Comprised of Michael Pole (vocals, guitar), William Walton (drums), and Travis McDonagh (bass), the band has quickly gained traction through collaborations with top Welsh producers like Simone Lombardi (Catfish and the Bottlemen) and Romesh Dodangoda (Motörhead, Bring Me The Horizon).

Their latest single Focus captures their signature blend of melodic hooks and garage-rock intensity. Recorded in South Wales by James Weaver and produced with a spontaneous, live-tracked approach, the song was written and tracked in a single day alongside their earlier single Red Head. A standout guitar line created with a ‘Third Man’ pitch-shifting pedal gives the track its distinctive bite, reflecting the band’s refusal to over-polish or compromise their sound. Stone Deaf launched Focus with a hometown gig at Swansea’s Bunkhouse on February 5th, serving up an electrifying show that matched the track’s kinetic force.

Stone Deaf x Musosoup

The band partnered with Musosoup to promote Focus, leveraging the platform’s reach to connect with curators and music writers across Europe. The campaign secured 25 playlist adds, an interview feature, and early media praise from multiple outlets.

York Calling introduced them as “a band that bursts with energy and attitude,” calling Focus “a track that feels both familiar and fresh — a nod to classic indie rock with a modern edge.” The review applauded the “gritty guitar work and punchy rhythm section,” emphasizing how Stone Deaf’s raw approach captures listeners immediately.

InfoMusic (France) described the track as “a concentrate of raw energy,” adding that it “channels the spirit of garage rock while keeping things tight and melodic.” They praised the group’s “unfiltered intensity and unapologetic delivery,” positioning Focus as “a bold introduction to a band that clearly knows who they are.”

Reflecting on the campaign, the band shared:

“I've had a really good experience with Musosoup and the campaign had some great results.”

Well, we're glad Musosoup's been able to help! We love the raw energy of this band and with more recordings and gigs on the horizon, they’re quickly becoming one of the most exciting new names to come out of Wales in recent years.
