Hope you’re all keeping well, as the nights begin to draw in over here in the UK. As always, September zoomed by in a flash, so here are ten recent Musosoup-endorsed discoveries which have kept me going over the past month!

Midnight Club is the alter ego of Florida-based songwriter, Julian Barbee. Fresh from releasing a rather experimental song called ‘Closed Space’ at the start of the month, he put out a more radio-friendly record just two weeks later. ‘Some Day You Will See’ is a timeless, percussive indie jam, with shades of slacker pop at its core.

Over in Utrecht, we encounter a Dutch duo by the name of Echoplay. Dennis and Nafsika have crafted an excellent slice of heartfelt indie pop in the shape of ‘Another Day’. A perfectly wistful autumn accompaniment.

Australian artist EÉSH is another one who impressed me hugely, thanks to her emotionally charged pop noir. The Melbourne-based performer’s latest single, ‘CONSUMPTION’ is absolutely stunning.

Having been featured in this column back in December last year, it’s a pleasure to dive back into the world of Shana Sarett. ‘About You’ is another shout-from-the-rooftops anthem from the Los Angeles resident.

Great to welcome back The Tropicanas into the fold as well, with their gloriously cosmic psych-pop. ‘Deep Down’ is an undeniable earworm from the Scottish indie five-piece. Well in lads!

With her new album ‘Levitate’ just around the corner, Canadian artist Billie Zizi unleashed another highlight from the LP. From quiet beginnings, ‘Neon Dream’ builds wonderfully into a soaring riff-laden affair, with Billie’s superb vocals front and centre.

Let’s take things in a more folk-leaning direction, thanks to another talented Aussie - namely Rhys Thompson. ‘Nowhere To Be’ is a tremendous debut, with shades of Greg Laswell and Crowded House.

Over in Latvia, we find the brilliant Laur-L. Her debut single ‘Moon’ is a beautiful piece of R&B-soaked pop. Definitely a name to watch in the months ahead!

Let me also introduce you to the dream-like futurepop of German producer, nyxotype. ‘Spider The Spellwork’ is a haunting slab of sparse, ambient-electro goodness.

Finally, Patio Gas. The band’s new spoken-word / post-punk beast ‘The Dream’ is their first new material since the well-received release of their ‘Digging Your Own Grave’ album last year. Genuinely compelling stuff. Jump in!
